The 7 Most Inspirational Heart Transplant Posts I’ve Seen on Facebook

Since I’ve launched this blog, I’ve used social media to connect with heart families who have become part of my community—or rather, who have welcomed me into their communities. Their stories, trials and questions help keep our team’s efforts in perspective for me.

Some of these families are part of our own Heart Transplant Program at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center Omaha. Others live in other parts of the country and world. But the struggle of caring for children with heart conditions unites all of us, near and far.

Have a question about which insect repellent to use after transplant? Ask, and within an hour you’ll have a half dozen answers. Worried about an upcoming doctors’ appointment? Put your worries out to the community, and others will write back with promising prayers.

It’s heartwarming to see. Here are seven recent posts and stories that have inspired me the most.

Hi, I'm Barb, and I'm a Physician Assistant and coordinator of the Heart Failure and Transplant Program at Children's Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha. I work with patients and families at every step of the journey, from diagnosing their child's heart condition to my favorite part—calling them to say "We have a heart."
