I am a huge advocate of heart kids staying active. That’s because exercise and physical fitness are so important for a child’s overall wellbeing. And, for the most part, kids who have heart conditions can stay in the game—as long as they play it safe. 

While it’s sometimes best to avoid high-impact sports like football that could lead to a direct blow to your child’s chest—especially if he’s post-transplant—there are plenty of activities that he can take part in.

In honor of National Physical Fitness and Sports Month this May, here are 4 sports and exercises for heart kids to try.
